Kinesiology Gets A Redesign

The Kinesiology major may be used as the basis for careers which include athletic manager, athletic trainer, camp counselor, choreographer, coach, community center leader, corrective therapist, dance therapist, exercise test technologist, health and safety director, industrial recreation leader, league manager, playground director, physical or adaptive therapist, racquet club manager, recreation leader, recreation specialist, recruiter, referee, resort sports coordinator, sportscaster, sports editor, and teacher. Graduates go on to serve in a variety of capacities in fitness, wellness, sports management and leadership careers. The BS in Kinesiology degree prepares students for careers in the fitness and exercise and allied health professions. After the first year, students should seek advisement from the Public Health Advisor in the Department of Kinesiology prior to each semester and summer sessions. Students who are on departmental probation must meet with their academic advisor for future enrollment options. Sport Psychology is appropriate for students who plan to work in the fitness/exercise industry or any other field such as coaching or rehabilitation, where human movement and exercise prescription are the focus. Learning occurs through the study of movement and exercise processes within a framework that emphasizes the clinical and practical implications of theory and research. Curriculum requirements are specific to each program of study and include opportunities for student-centered learning and „hands-on“ practical experiences.

Other studies of kinesiology-style muscle testing, have found that practitioners were able to determine if a spoken statement was true significantly more accurately than guessing whether it was true (69% correct for muscle testing, 49% correct for guessing, p of less than 0.0001).
